Database Management System (DBMS)
- PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL is a robust, next-generation, Object-Relational
DBMS (ORDBMS), derived from the Berkeley Postgres
database management system. While PostgreSQL retains the powerful
object-relational data model, rich data types and easy
extensibility of Postgres, it replaces the PostQuel query
language with an extended subset of SQL. (SQL stands for
Structured Query Language and is usually pronounced
sequel.)
- MySQL
MySQL is a multi-user, multi-threaded SQL database server. SQL is
the most popular database language in the world. MySQL is a client/server
implementation that consists of a server daemon mysqld and many different
client programs and libraries.

About Linux
Linux is an engineer's ideal workbench.
It is an Unix-compatible multi-user, preemptive multi-tasking,
multi-processor, and virtual memory OS.
Better yet, it is free and even comes with full source code.
Among the items included in a typical full Linux distribution
are the operating system, the X Free86
X Windows package, TeX, the GNU compilers for C, C++, Objective
C, FORTRAN 77 (g77), f2c, p2c, AWK, Perl, Tcl/Tk, sccs, rcs, cvs, make, byacc,
GNU Bison, flex, curses, C libraries, GNU common LISP, TCP/IP networking,
SLIP/PPP, IP accounting, firewalls, autoconfig, Postgres SQL, Java kernel
support, BSD sendmail, cnews, nn, tin, trn, inn, pine, fvwm95,
lesstif,
and the Apache HTTP server and the Arena, Lynx, Netscape
Web browsers. And many many more. It is very stable, it can run for
months without crash. The only time that you need to shut it
down is for installation of new hardware or system software.
About FreeBSD
The most powerful Unix server available on PC-compatibles.
It is based on 4.4 BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution).
About NetBSD
The NetBSD Project is a collective volunteer effort to
produce a freely available and redistributable
UNIX-like operating system based on Berkeley BSD.
About OpenBSD
The OpenBSD project produces a FREE, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like
operating system.

What do you think, my friend?
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe simply because it has been handed down for many
generations. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken
and rumoured by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is
written in Holy Scriptures. Do not believe in anything merely on the
authority of Teachers, elders or wise men.
Believe only after careful observation and analysis, when you find
that it agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and
benefit of one and all. Then accept it and live up to it."

Zen stories to tell your neighbors
An old farmer who had worked his
crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon
hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. "Such bad luck,"
they said sympathetically. "May be," the farmer replied. The
next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses.
"How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed. "May be," replied the old man.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was
thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy
on his misfortune. "May be," answered the farmer. The day after, military
officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that
the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated
the farmer on how well things had turned out. "May be," said the farmer.
