Welcome to the Engineering & Project Management Program Website
The Graduate Program in Engineering and Project Management trains
professionals for leadership in the construction industry, including
engineering practice and field, project, and corporate management.
Contemporary construction practice demands that the construction
professional not only master construction concepts, but also have
a strong background in engineering and management methods. Emphasis
is placed on new technologies, developments, and techniques in both
domestic and international construction. Students are encouraged
to take related courses in the Civil and Environmental Engineering
Department, in other engineering departments, and in Business Administration,
Architecture, City and Regional Planning, and Law.
Graduates of the Program find a wide range of employment opportunities
in design, consulting, and construction firms as well as in the
public sector. Throughout the Program, the interrelationship of
planning, design, and construction is continually stressed. Interaction
with the construction industry is enhanced by the ideal location
of the campus in the San Francisco Bay Area, at the heart of major
local, national, and international construction activity. Extensive
use is made of local and international projects in classroom examples
and project assignments and industry practitioners are invited to
present guest lectures describing industry challenges and solutions.
