In addition to these standard advising services, there are several programs on campus in which students serve as mentors for other students. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of one or more of these services. You will learn all sorts of great information from students who have already been at Berkeley for some time. You'll find out about all the stuff we either forgot to or couldn't include in this guide. Some of the programs available are: Engineering Big Buddy Program - The buddy program is sponsored by the Engineers Joint Council (EJC). Incoming students such as yourself are match up with friendly, exciting students in your major. Your buddy will show you the ropes of being a CEE student here at Cal. They'll answer questions for you ranging from which classes to take and which professors to avoid, to where all the good parties are. Contact EJC for more info, 220 Bechtel Engineering Center, 642-2420. Student to Student Peer Counseling - The ASUC runs the Student
to Student Peer Counseling Program. Confidential academic and personal
counseling is available. Current office hours are Mon. - Fri., 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. at 318 Eschelman Hall, 642-9021.
Tutoring Services If you're having trouble in one or more of your classes, there are dozens of different places you can go to get tutoring. The College publishes a list of some of the tutoring services available to engineering students, pick one up in 308 McLaughlin Hall. The following is a list of just some of the places to go if you need help: Chi Epsilon - For help with CEE courses, the best place to go is Chi Epsilon (XE), the Civil Engineering Honor Society. They can find somebody to help you with just about any CEE course you're having trouble with. 335 Davis Hall, 642-8428. Student Life Advising Services - Tutoring in first year math, science, composition, and social science. Also provides study skills workshops. Golden Bear Center, 642-7332. Tau Beta Pi - Peer tutoring by engineering honor society students in lower division science, math, and engineering courses. 220 Bechtel Engineering Center, 642-5549. But you say you want help in non-CEE courses? For help in Upper-Division Engineering Courses that are not in CEE you
can find help from other engineering honor societies. Like Chi Epsilon,
these other societies run tutoring programs to assist students in classes
within their department. If you're having trouble in an upper division
engineering course not in CEE, locate the honor society for the department
and ask them for help. Lists of such groups can be found at
