Dan Work Wins the UCTC Outstanding Student of the Year Award

The University of California Transportation Center announced that the UCTC Outstanding Student of the Year Award recipient is Dan Work, a PhD student in Systems Engineering in CEE.

Dan's research with Professor Alexandre Bayen has focused on monitoring highway traffic in real time using GPS equipped cell phones. Dan was the lead PhD student for the Mobile Century experiment, and has recently worked on the highway models that are now part of Mobile Millennium.

The award also acknowledges that Dan has been a campus leader and contributor to several peer reviewed publications. Dan will join other Student of the Year recipients from University Transportation Centers across the US at an award ceremony in January 2010 prior to the annual TRB meeting in Washington, DC.

Congratulations, Dan!
