Michelle Newcomer Receives Major DOE Fellowship

The Department of Energy Office of Science selected Michelle Newcomer, Environmental Engineering PhD candidate, to receive an Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) award. She received the award for her project, "Scaling the effects of bioclogging in the hyporheic zone to predict regional hydrologic water balances." Her faculty advisor is CEE Professor Yoram Rubin.

Fellows were competitively selected based on academic merit and graduate research. They represent the next generation of scientific and technical talent in the US.

The DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship program (SCGF) supports outstanding graduate students pursuing graduate training in basic research in areas of physics, biology (non-medical), chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computational and computer sciences, and environmental sciences.
