Chancellor Dirks has approved the appointment of Professor Khalid Mosalam to the Taisei Chair in CIvil Engineering, for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2015-June 30, 2020.
This is a well-deserved honor and recognition of Mosalam's distinguished record of scholarship and service to the University and the profession.
Mosalam is a faculty member in CEE's Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials program. He teaches courses in structural analysis, design and behavior of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, and finite element methods.
His primary research activities focus on modeling the structural response of reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood structural systems subjected to severe loading conditions due to major earthquakes, blasts or wind gusts.
