The American Ceramic Society selected Professor Paulo Monteiro to give its prestigious Della Roy Lecture. The honoree is chosen by the division's Executive Committee in consultation with Elsevier Science, sponsor of the lecture.
Monteiro spoke on: "Characterization of Cementitious Materials Using X-Ray Synchrotron Radiation: What we know, what we don’t know, and what we want to know."
Just before his presentation, ACS organizers made the official announcement that Monteiro's paper written with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's Advanced Light Source researchers received ACS's 2016 Stephen Brunauer Award for the best cements paper published in 2015.
Papers are judged on scientific quality, originality, and overall presentation.
It is the second time that Monteiro has received this award.
