Two undergraduates receive The Robert P. Wadell Endowed Scholarship

Ka Ho Leung and Amir Shushtarian are the first recipients of  The Robert P. Wadell, PE, F.ASCE Endowed Scholarship Fund, awarded to undergraduate students of exceptional promise and achievement enrolled in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.

Both Ka Ho and Amir are majoring in civil engineering, and after graduation they plan to continue on with graduate studies in structural engineering.

The Wadell Scholarship is one of four named scholarships whose annual awards will be matched by The William Randolph Hearst Endowment Challenge Grant for Undergraduate Scholarships.

Robert Wadell (BS '67, MS '68 Civil Engineering) has fond memories of his days at Cal, inspired by faculty to pursue a career in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He went on to become one of the leading experts in the field of airport design, and has remained strongly connected to the College through volunteer service. By establishing his merit and need-based scholarship, Mr. Wadell hopes that the Wadell Scholarship will “provide for the creation of outstanding civil engineers through opportunity.”
