John A. Martin Sr. Passed Away on Dec. 3

John A. Martin, Sr. "Jack" (CE BS '43) founder of John A. Martin & Associates, Inc. passed away on Dec. 3. He was 92.

Jack Martin was the CEO of the Martin Associates Group of affiliated structural and engineering firms. He is a past President of the Structural Engineers Association of California, an organization dedicated to upgrading codes to meet the changing needs of building design. He is also a recipient of the Alfred E. Lindau Award from the American Concrete Institute for his many years of leadership in the seismic design of reinforced concrete structures.

Jack Martin was a long time friend of CEE at Berkeley. Most notably, he made a generous donation to the department for the creation of its executive conference room, The John A. Martin Conference Room.
