Juan Argote Wins Eisenhower Award

Featured Faculty: Carlos F. Daganzo

Juan Argote, Transportation Engineering graduate student, received the prestigious Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship.

Working with CEE Professor Carlos Daganzo, Argote researches how to improve the reliability of multiple bus lines traveling on a particular transportation corridor.

To combat bus bunching (where a late bus finally shows up and is unusually crowded), Argote has conceptualized a new control method that he believes could achieve a 10 to 20 percent reduction in travel times, depending on the level of demand.

The Eisenhower Fellowship enables students to pursue advanced degrees in transportation-related fields by contributing to tuition and living costs.
