Alumna Anu Sridharan (Civil Systems MS '10, BS '09) was named on Forbes list of the top 30 under 30 Social Entrepreneurs in 2012.
Sridharan, 25, is the co-founder of NextDrop, a company dedicated to improving access to water for residents in urban India by a) providing residents access to timely and reliable information about piped water supply, and b) establishing a feedback loop to inform better water management for the water utility.
Residents like this information because it takes away the stress of guessing when the water will come next. Utilities like it because they can, for the first time, make data-driven distribution decisions.
The inaugural 30 under 30 for social entrepreneurs is full of individuals who share conviction, talent, and the business model and the proven results to back it all up.
Membership in this club was tough to come by. Forbes staff developed a list of more than 100 tentative candidates and from there whittled the list down to 30.
