GeoEngineering MS Students Receive Seed and Brekke Awards

2013 H.B. Seed Award recipient: Francesco Tatone

The Harry Bolton Seed Award recognizes outstanding academic accomplishment in the GeoEngineering MS program. It is awarded annually by the vote of the faculty for the best academic performance by a student in the graduating MS class.

Francesco received his BS degree from UC Berkeley and was the recipient of the Jane Lewis Fellowship at Berkeley.  He has accepted a position as an entry level geotechnical engineer with AMEC in Oakland, CA.

 

2013 Tor L. Brekke Award recipient: John W. Murphy

The Tor L. Brekke Award recognizes a student who has contributed most to the overall spirit of learning, teamwork, cohesiveness and success of the MS student group. The award recipient is selected by a vote of the current faculty and students.

John received his BS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and was the recipient of the Parker Trask fellowship during his studies at Berkeley. He is returning to his civilian position as a geotechnical engineer in the Geotechnical and Geology section of the St. Paul District of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
