Professor Lisa Alvarez-Cohen received the 2014 Simon W. Freese Environmental Engineering Award for her outstanding achievements in environmental microbiology and biotechnology, in supporting environmental engineering education, and in advancing the civil and environmental engineering profession. Of particular note was her outstanding body of published work.
Alvarez-Cohen is the Fred and Claire Sauer Professor of Environmental Engineering and a member of the CEE Environmental Engineering program.
