CEE Alumnus McLaskey wins AGU Aki Young Scientist Award

Featured Faculty: Steven D. Glaser

The American Geophysical Union honored Gregory McLaskey (CE PhD '11) with the 2014 Keeiti Aki Young Scientist Award.

The Aki Award is given to just one young scientist in the field of seismology each year to recognize his or her accomplishments within 3 years of receiving a PhD. McLaskey is the only civil engineer to have won a major award from the seismology division, and one of the very few laboratory experimentalists. His faculty advisor was Professor Steve Glaser.

Upon graduating from Berkeley, McLaskey won the USGS Mendenhall Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. He joined the faculty of Cornell University as an assistant professor in fall 2014.
