Bay Area's Old Water Pipes in the News

Featured Faculty: Arpad Horvath

Dr. Jennifer Stokes and Dr. Thomas Hendrickson were featured in an NBC Investigative Report that aired on April 24.

They talked about the need to increase funding for and replace parts of urban water infrastructure in the Bay Area.

Many of the system’s pipes have aged well beyond their expected retirement, causing an average of 3 breaks every day in the entire Bay Area and tens of millions of gallons of water lost.

Stokes and Hendrickson are members of Professor Arpad Horvath's research team and members of the ReNUWit NSF-funded Engineering Research Center.
