Mark Ma Awarded SEAONC Scholarship

CEE senior Mark Ma received a 2015 SEAONC Scholarship. The highly competitive $5K scholarship is awarded to outstanding students pursuing a career in structural engineering.

Ma completed an honors research project with Professor Paulo Monteiro on vaterite and limestone as partial replacements for cement in green concrete design. He also worked with Professor Filip Filippou on the dynamic analysis using Ritz vectors.

Ma served as the scholarship officer in Chi Epsilon (CEE honors society) and was active in ASCE. He has a superb academic record, making the Dean's Honor List since fall 2012. His interest in structural engineering was motivated by hearing of the devastating effects of the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan.

Ma intends to pursue graduate studies at Berkeley CEE.
