Professor Bea Spotlighted in Wall Street Journal Article

Professor Robert Bea was prominently featured in an article appearing the the Nov. 27, 2004 edition of the Wall Street Journal. The article, "Deep Trouble: Far Below Gulf's Surface, Ivan Wreaked Havoc on Oil Industry," discussed how Bea's predictions of the threat of underwater mudslides have been borne out. Hurricane Ivan triggered a multitude of mudslides that crippled oil and gas pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico.

Bea has argued for decades that the effects of mudslides could be far more damaging than those of hurricane-force winds, waves or ocean currents.
