Two of Six Melosh Competition Finalists for 2005 are from UC Berkeley
Graduate student Xiaohu Liu and recent CEE graduate Dan Simkins, Jr.
of the Structural
Engineering, Mechanics and Materials program were among the six
finalists in this year's Robert J. Melosh Medal Competition for the
best student paper on finite element analysis. The papers by Liu and
Simkins, who are both students of Professor
Shaofan Li, scored in the top six against entries from all over
North America. The 17th Annual Robert J. Melosh Medal Competition
was held on April 29th at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy,
New York.
