Never Before Seen Talent at Annual ASCE Talent Show

The much-anticipated annual ASCE Talent Show and CEE Faculty/Staff/Student Barbecue was held last month. And as is the case every year, the CEE community got a rare look at the hidden talents of those whom they see every day in the classrooms and hallways of Davis and McLaughlin halls.

Talents included Professor Jamie Rector playing jazz piano; Thien performing an amazing backflip; Kristen Ray demonstrating a drill routine with a wooden rifle; Lisa Veliz singing a song; and Pui Wa singing both the male and female parts from a Cantonese opera.

The talents below were preserved on film for posterity.

Professor Michael Riemer played Irish dance music on the flute. He plays by ear as he learned the music in jam sessions with other Irish musicians.

Professor Armen Der Kiureghian made a little man with a turban out of a paper napkin.

Samantha Sharp played a viola solo.

Andrew Wagner tore a phone book in half (with thanks to Professor Claudia Ostertag who taught him how.)
