27th Annual ASCE/UCB GeoEngineering Distinguished Lecture Series on May 8, 2009
The 27th Annual ASCE/UCB GeoEngineering Distinguished Lecture Series will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009, at the University of California, Berkeley.
The speakers and their lecture titles are:
"New Challenges in Geomechanics: The Role of Modeling in Geotechnical Engineering Practice"
by Juan M. Pestana, Professor of GeoEngineering, University of California, Berkeley
"Performance-based Design and Specifications for Structural Fills"
by Iraj Noorany, Professor Emeritus, San Diego State University & Principal, Noorany Geotechnical Consulting, Inc.
The 2009 Rankine Lecture: "Geohazards and Large Geographically Distributed Systems,"
by Tom O'Rourke, Thomas R. Briggs Professor of Engineering, Cornell University
This year’s geo-celebration banquet speaker will be Dick Goodman, who will share a few of his thoughts on GeoEngineering Leaders. In between, there is a hosted social hour with student posters.
The Annual Distinguished Lecture is a great event for the geoengineering community. The lecture sold out last year, so do not wait to register. Discounted prices are available for students.
