Anu Sridharan Wins Oski Leadership Award
Anu Sridharan, graduating senior in CEE, received the Oski Leadership Award in the category of Outstanding Student Leader.
The Oski Awards are given out by Berkeley's Center for Student Leadership, in conjunction with the ASUC student government. Twenty-two students were nominated from all over campus for their positive contributions to Cal through their execution of projects and programs, commitment to growth, and their embodiment of the spirit of leadership.
Anu was nominated for the many ways she has worked to improve opportunities available to undergraduates. Through her position as a teaching assistant in CE 92: Introduction to Civil and Environmental Engineering, she encouraged students to pursue all avenues within the department and after graduation, as well as to become active in the civil and environmental engineering community. She was instrumental in spearheading CEE's new Professional Development Certificate Program, and in organizing the Program's two DeCal classes which brought in industry leaders to speak on topics of team-building, effective communication, and leadership.
Anu has shown her leadership qualities within the larger world by implementing the education component of the Haath Mein Sehat project, a group that seeks to provide for safe water and sanitation in urban slum communities in Mumbai, India. She coordinated with local college students to put on workshops concerning safe drinking water practices such has proper personal hygiene, safe water storage, and available water treatment options.
Anu is an exceptional energetic woman who cares about making contributions to Berkeley and the wider community. We heartily congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition of her enthusiastic leadership!
