Professor Madanat to Co-direct New Multi-campus Program in Transportation Sustainability

CEE Professor and ITS-Berkeley Director, Samer Madanat, along with ITS-Irvine Director, Steve Ritchie, and ITS-Davis Director, Dan Sperling, received a major grant from the University of California Office of the President to create a new Program for Sustainable Transport. The program will consist of three research tracks: Technology, Mobility, and Infrastructure.

The new program will be supported by an initial 5-year award of $6.25M from the UC Office of the President. It was selected under the University’s Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI) through a competitive peer-review process.

Funding will support cutting-edge research targeted at key state initiatives unfolding over the next few years, as well as the training of the next generation of experts and leaders.
