Even Ground Announces School Partnership

Even Ground will be launching its first program year this October at the Harriet Baldwin Early Learning Center in Brighton, MA. The school is extremely diverse, and has students from all parts of Boston. They come from 20 countries and speak thirteen languages.

Even Ground Sessions Ready To Begin

Even Ground sessions will begin this October. Each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, Even Ground Mentors will meet with their partner child in the Even Ground classroom. The pairs will read together, play together, and participate in group time, so that everyone can work to improve communication and develop respect for and understanding of people from many different cultures.

Training a Team

We are currently gearing up for our fall training & teambuilding weekend for mentors. From Friday, October 12th through Sunday, October 14th we will kick off our program with ice breakers, team building activities, and lots of Some examples of our trainings are: Language & Literacy, Cultural Sensitivity, Early Childhood Development, and more!

Even Ground believes that all children deserve the tools and opportunities to succeed; however, children who come from non-English speaking homes frequently face great challenges in the classroom. Even Ground works towards ensuring equal opportunities for all children by pairing a child in need with a highly trained mentor who values the importance of communication, culture, education, and family. Even Ground accomplishes this goal by equipping children with English language skills, training mentors to be effective teachers and role models, and working with families to foster an understanding of culture and cultural identity.

Registration

Registration forms have been sent to families, and they are already coming back filled in! Ten children have been invited to participate in Even Ground for our first program year. These children have been identified by their classroom teachers as in need of the most help with the English language.
