Research Interests:

My research focuses on the analysis of environmental systems pertaining to water quality and supply.  In addition, I am working towards improving remote monitoring of habitat conditions and environmental restoration.

Current Research:

I am studying the ability to adaptively manage seasonal wetlands in California’s Central Valley for water quality purposes using a real-time monitoring network on the Lower San Joaquin River. This research has several aspects that must be addressed: (1) Firstly, an analysis of the various management strategies’ impacts on the water quality of the San Joaquin River must be conducted, (2) a real-time, telemetered wetland water quality monitoring network needed to be designed and constructed (3) a wetland water quality model needed to be developed and calibrated, (4) habitat monitoring techniques to assess the impacts to the wetland resource stemming from altered drawdown schedules needed to be developed, (5) a feedback loop needed to be created to allow for adaptive management of the seasonal wetlands.
