Welcome

Welcome to the website of Engineers for a Sustainable World, Berkeley. We are a college chapter of Engineers for a Sustainable World. This website contains information about our projects, and events both upcoming and past, as well as information about how to stay informed or become a member. We are an ASUC recognized student group and are sponsored by Cal Corps. We have also partnered with the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Lab at Berkeley.

Mission Statement

We are an organization at UC Berkeley interested in engineering issues surrounding appropriate technologies in development. To that end, we have three primary goals:

  • Provide a forum for students, faculty, professionals and community members both here and internationally to learn about and critically evaluate sustainable and appropriate engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate collaborations between volunteers from all disciplines and underserved communities to address technical problems using a sustainable, multi-disciplinary approach that takes into consideration local need, resources, and culture and emphasizes long-term partnership between EWF-Berkeley and local communities.
  • Promote awareness of worldwide development issues in the UC Berkeley campus community and facilitate research on issues relevant to the engineering needs of underserved populations.
