The network of sensors for this array is unique. Each station in the network contains 3-D rate gyros, magnetometers, and temperature and pore pressure sensors.

This particular array is distinct in that it incorporates Motes. A Mote is a very small programmable unit that provides computation, data storage, bi-directional communication, module interfaces with the analog and digital sensors, performs basic signal processing, and dispatches the data according to the application’s needs. The Motes are designed to be built from prefabricated components and the result is a sensor which is approximately one cubic inch in size.
