The capabilities of the Berkeley Rock Laboratory, under the
directorship of Prof. Steven D. Glaser, include several high-speed data
acquisition systems, a computer-controlled ultrasonic system, network analysis
capabilities, sensor fabrication facilities, and load-testing facilities.
Quantitative Acoustic Emission Imaging
System: Multi-channel inversion of internal dislocations for imaging
of source kinematics and location
1.
Sole source of the Glaser-type high-fidelity wide-band AE embeddible sensor
2. Custom Data Acquisition
System
3. Nicolet 4094C/4570 10 MMS 12-bit digital scope, numerous
PC-based data-acq boards
Active Imaging System: Fracture

Computational Power:
* 1. Silicon Graphics workstation and four Linux workstations
The Rock Lab has a full sensor fabrication facility including
small-scale machining. Calibration facilities include 2 NIST calibrated
reference transducers, and an H-P 4192A network analyzer which allows complete
quantification of one- and two-port systems.
