Tatjana Bolic
Tanja is a PhD candidate, and is working on Automation, Adoption and Adaptation in Air Traffic Control. She recieved a B.Sc. in Air Transportation Engineering from the Univerity of Belgrade in 1999, and a Masters in Transportation Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2002. Prior to joining UC Berkeley, she worked as a Junior Teaching Assisstant at University of Belgrade from 1999 to 2000.
Yu Zhang
Yu Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate, working on developing an airport congestion management strategy with inter-modal substitution. Yu has worked as a graduate student researcher at NEXTOR on various projects, including airlines operations, human factor, demand management, and inter-modality, by employing tools such as statistical modeling, robust optimization, and econometrics. Yu received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Southeast University, China in 1997, a M.S. in Transportation Engineering from University of California Berkeley in 2003. Prior to joining UC Berkeley as a Ph.D. student, Yu had worked in a government agency as a Transportation Engineer.
Wanjira Jirajaruporn
Wanjira is a Ph.D. candidate working on Stochastic Optimization in Air Traffic Management due to Convective Weather Uncertainty. Wanjira received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand in 1999 and MS. In Transportation Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2003. Before entering the graduate school at UC Berkeley, Wanjira was a transportation engineer at the Office of the Commission for Land Traffic Management in Thailand.
Chieh-Yu Hsiao
Chieh-yu is a PhD candidate, working on Passenger Demand for Air Transportation in Hub-and-Spoke Network. He recieved a B.B.A. from the Department of Transportation and Management, NCTU Taiwan in 1994, and a M.S. from Institute of Traffic and Transportation, NCTU Taiwan in 1996. He has worked as an Assistant and Associate Engineer in the Intiute of Transportation, Ministry of Transportation and Communication, Taiwan from 1998 to 2001.
Pei-chen Barry Liu
Barry is a Ph.D. candidate, and is working on stochastic optimization in air traffic flow management. Barry received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1997, a M.S. in Structural Engineering from Stanford University in 1998, and a M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from UC Berkeley in 2006. Prior to joining UC Berkeley as a Ph.D. student, Barry was a software engineer at IBM.
Gautam Gupta
Gautam is a Ph. D. candidate working on analyzing the competition between a charter/un-scheduled airline and scheduled airline. He has worked on various NEXTOR projects, including analyzing controller-pilot communication for relations with operational errors, and setting up a dedicated charter airline for student athlete travel. He is also working on methodology for sampling un-staffed facilities in NAS. Gautam completed his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in 2003, and Masters in Transportation Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2004.
Yoonjin Yoon
Yoonjin has a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Seoul National University, and master's degrees in Computer Science, and management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in Transportation Engineering. Her interest areas are FAA Investment Analysis and its modernization, stochastic air traffic flow management, stochastic infrastructure management, and airport and airlines operations. Prior to arriving at Berkeley, she had several years of professional experience in academic research, system software enigineering, and aviation consulting.
Megan Smirti
Megan has a bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in Information and Telecommunication Systems from Johns Hopkins University, and a master's degree in Transportation Engineering from Berkeley.  She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from in Transportation Engineering, with plans to research road pricing, freight modeling, and innovative solutions for freight mobility. When she's not in McL, she enjoys trail running in the East Bay and running marathons.
