Index to Common PLOT Phase Commands FEAP 7.1

Appendix E

Kinematic Information

Command Description Page
acceleration  Plot contours of accelerations (dynamic problems only). 308
contour  Plot contours of the degrees of freedom; e.g. displacements in mechanics problems. 318
displacement  Plot displacement vectors at each node. 321
dplo Plot displacement components along a mouse defined section cut (2-D only). 323
mesh  Plot the mesh; after the use of the deformed command, this command will plot a deformed mesh. 340
velocity  Plot contours of velocities (dynamic problems only). 373

Modal Information

Command Description Page
eigelement Plot eigenvectors for last element in mesh 324
eigvector/alue  Plot eigenvectors and eigenvalues after an eigenvalue solution has been performed in the Macro phase; you must issue deformed to see the eigenvectors/modes. 325

Output Control

Command Description Page
color Set postscript output to color 317
postscript  Send plotting output to a postscript file. A second issuance closes the output file. Note, a new file is opened every other issuance. 352

Problem Definition

Command Description Page
axis Plot coordinate axes on the screen. 309
boundary  Plot non-zero boundary codes. 312
elements  Plot element numbers. 326
fill Plot the mesh filling each different material with a different color. 330
load Plot nodal force vectors. This command does not plot forced Dirichlet values; it only plots forced Neumann values. 336
mesh Plot the mesh. 340
node Plot nodes and node numbers. 341
outline  Plot an outline of the mesh. 344
pnode Print node number of node closest to mouse location 351

Stress Information

Command Description Page
estress  Plot contours of element stresses (no smoothing). 327
praxis  Plot the triad of principal axes at each node. 353
pstress  Plot contours of principal stresses and angles; all plots are smoothed. 357
reactions  Plot reaction vectors at nodes. 359
splo Plot stress components along a mouse defined section cut (2-D only). 367
stress  Plot contours of stresses (smoothed). 368

View Control

Command Description Page
cartesian  Switch to plotting with a Cartesian view. This turns off {\tt pers}pective view and is the default plotting mode. 313
center  Move center of plot region on screen. 314
default  toggles whether on not FEAP uses default values for plotting ranges. By setting default, off FEAP will prompt you for plotting ranges. default,on resets FEAP to compute default values. 319
deformed  Execute all plotting commands on a deformed geometry -- allows for the scaling of deformation. 320
fram Set the quadrant of the plot window in which subsequent plotting operations will take place.  (Divides the main plot window into 4 quadrants) 331
hide Plot the mesh using hidden line removal. Also activates hidden line removal for subsequent plotting commands. 332
mark Set marks at the location of the maximum and minimum values for the current plot 338
material  Restrict plots to specified material set numbers. 339
perspective  Set the perspective viewpoint and ``vertical vector". After issuance plots are shown in a perspective view. The {\tt cart}esian command deactivates this feature. 348
pick Select a portion of the mesh for plotting with the mouse. 350
quadrant Select active quadrants when using the symmerty command 358
symmetry Set plotting to reflect across symmetry planes 369
undeformed  Execute all plotting commands on an undeformed geometry. This is the default mode. 372
wipe Wipe clear the plotting window or a selected quadrant. 375
window Toggle between the three windows on the Window95/NT version 374
zoom Set plotting area between two specified nodes. If no nodes are specified set plotting area to entire mesh. 376
