CEE undergraduate, Dylan Kato, was selected as a Rose Hills SURF Fellow for summer 2016.
The SURF Rose Hills fellowship allows Berkeley sophomores and juniors in certain math, science, and engineering majors to immerse themselves in full-time summer research supporting a research project that is designed and directed by a faculty member and which allows for collaboration with senior doctoral students.
Kato has been working in the research group of CEE Professor Slav Hermanowicz on a project exploring reclamation and reuse of graywater using solar energy for photocatalytic oxidation.
Kato’s work is connected to an NSF project titled, “Solar Optics-based Active Pasteurization for Greywater Reuse and Integrated Thermal Building Control” co-led by two doctoral students in Hermanowicz's lab, Vivek Rao and Henry Kagey.
