On Feb. 16, Berkeley's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department was pleased to host a delegation from Shanghai's Tongji University.

The delegation included Tongji University President Zhihua Zhong and a number of College Deans.

The occasion was the signing of a new memorandum of understanding between UC Berkeley's Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Carol Christ and President Zhong. The agreement is to continue the very successful cooperation between UC Berkeley and Tongji, and specifically Berkeley's Civil & Environmental Engineering Department's 3-1-1 program that enables student exchange between the two campuses, as well as research collaborations between the two institutions.
