Cal ITE wins a grant, hosts networking mixers and designs a new website

2017 was a great year for the UC Berkeley student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

In the fall, Cal ITE hosted a wildly popular student-faculty-industry partners networking event for over 50 people. Many prominent west coast transportation engineering and planning firms attended.

Through one-on-discussions Berkeley students came to a more thorough understanding of the transportation engineering field. Cal ITE plans to hold a similar networking event in the coming months.

Cal ITE also applied for, and won, another $1K data collection grant from the ITE Western District. The grant supported students to plan and participate in a 3-day project during which they counted foot, bike, and vehicle traffic entering and exiting a particular Berkeley retail store. Learning how to document their fieldwork and write summaries of their findings was invaluable.

Cal ITE sent a record number of students to the 2018 Student Leadership Summit (SLS) at Oregon State University. Not only does the organization hope to continue sending students to SLS, but Cal ITE is proud to announce that it will host the Student Leadership Summit in 2019!

Last, Cal ITE launched a new website, which has been submitted for a web design award. Through their use of Instagram, email, Facebook, and now the new website, Cal ITE wants to connect with as many students as possible. Interested parties can trace Cal ITE's history and keep updated on the organization's latest happenings. So to get involved in Cal ITE:
