ECIC Offers Specialized Degree in Sustainable Engineering

Featured Faculty: Arpad Horvath

CEE's ECIC program is highlighted in ASCE's Civil Engineering Magazine as one of a small but growing number of programs that offer degrees in sustainable engineering.

ECIC, dedicated to graduating civil engineers who are specifically prepared to combine the principles of sustainable development with the principles of civil and environmental engineering, will graduate its inaugural class in May 2012, and admissions for its second class is currently underway.

CEE created the program to respond to the increase in graduate applicants who expressed an interest in energy, greenhouse gas, water, and air emissions. Professor Arpad Horvath, ECIC program leader, says that one result of the program has been the creation a lasting community of like-minded students.
