Featured Faculty: Alexandre M. Bayen

Alexandre Bayen, faculty member in CEE's Civil Systems program, has received a Google Faculty Research Award from the Mountain View firm, to work on the the use of algorithms developed as part of the Mobile Millennium research program in the Google system.

Mobile Millennium is a traffic monitoring system which uses GPS enabled smartphones to monitor traffic. As part of this research program, algorithms were developed to fuse GPS data and transform it into traffic information. As part of the award, Bayen's group will be working together with Google Traffic to establish how these algorithms can be deployed inside Google Traffic.
