NEES@Berkeley Laboratory Receives Outstanding Service Award

Featured Faculty: Khalid M. Mosalam

The George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) program of the National Science Foundation awarded the nees@berkeley laboratory the “Outstanding Service Award” in the area of site operations and research support during the Quake Summit 2013 held August 7-8 in Reno, Nevada.

The individuals receiving the award were CEE Professor and NEES Principal Investigator Khalid Mosalam, Site Operations Manager Dr. Shakhzod Takhirov, and Hybrid Systems and Test Operator Selim Gunay (L-R).

Based on nominations from the broad earthquake engineering community, NEES recognizes exceptional members of the community, people who have made outstanding contributions to earthquake engineering research, testing, and education.

The nees@berkeley laboratory site has been in operation since 2004. It is recognized for its experience in all categories of hybrid simulation and for extensive use of advanced measurement techniques. This is the site’s second award within the last 9 years of operation. More information about the site and its management and operations team can be found in http://nees.berkeley.edu (since the publication of this news item, this website has been retired, but can be explored via this archival copy).
