Published: E7 book by CEE alum Timmy Siauw and Professor Bayen

Featured Faculty: Alexandre M. Bayen
Elsevier just published the first edition of the book "An Introduction to MATLAB® Programming and Numerical Methods for Engineers" by Timmy Siauw (CEE Systems Eng. PhD '12) and Professor Alexandre Bayen.

The book is based on the class E7 taught by Bayen in 2010 and 2008, and for which Siauw served as a GSI and Lead GSI several times while a graduate student at Berkeley.

Assuming no prior background in linear algebra or real analysis, "An Introduction to MATLAB® Programming and Numerical Methods for Engineers" enables students to develop good computational problem-solving techniques through the use of numerical methods and the MATLAB® programming environment.

Part One introduces fundamental programming concepts, using simple examples to put new concepts quickly into practice. Part Two covers the fundamentals of algorithms and numerical analysis at a level that allows students to apply results in practical settings.
