Rabia Chaudhry Awarded a Soroptimist Founder Region Fellowship

Featured Faculty: Kara L. Nelson

Environmental Engineering PhD student Rabia Chaudhry received the Soroptimist Founder Region Fellowship. The Soroptimist Fellowship is awarded to a select group of women who have advanced to candidacy in their doctoral programs. Her advisor is Professor Kara Nelson.

Chaudhry's research aims to promote water reuse through understanding virus removal mechanisms in wastewater treatment (specifically membrane bioreactors), and quantifying health risks associated with potable reuse.

The Soroptimist Fellowship will provide support after her tenure as an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship ends in August 2014. Chaudhry was also awarded the Environmental Protection Agency STAR fellowship in 2011, which she had to decline.
