Professor Ashok Gadgil was named one of IEEE Spectrum's Engineering Heroes for 2015 for his work on water purification, cookstoves and arsenic removal that has helped tens of millions of people worldwide.

Gadgil is the Andrew and Virginia Rudd Family Foundation Distinguished Chair of Safe Water and Sanitation, a faculty member in CEE's Environmental Engineering program, and Director of Environmental Energy Technologies Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
