Kenichi Soga Writes Article for NAE Bridge Magazine Spring Issue “Sustainable Smart Cities”

CEE Professor Kenichi Soga wrote an article for this year's Spring issue of the National Academy of Engineering's Bridge magazine, "Sustainable Smart Cities" of the National Academy of Engineering's "Bridge." The article is called "Smart Infrastructure for Smart Cities." 
 
The world's cities face increasing threats from natural disasters, aging infrastructure, traffic, and resource constraints. The articles in this issue examine smart infrastructure, sustainability, net zero carbon options, and autonomous driving, among other approaches to smart and sustainable cities. Soga's article lays out potential solutions to rehabilitating or creating the built environment so that future generations benefit from the smart infrastructure through emerging technologies that can enhance infrastructure to improve safety, resilience, sustainability, and equity.
