Yi Liu Wins Aviation Research Award

Featured Faculty: Mark Hansen

Yi Liu, graduate student in Transportation Engineering, is the first student from Berkeley ever to receive a Graduate Research Award on Public-Sector Aviation issues. Liu's was one of ten stipends awarded nationally for 2012-2013.

Liu's award was based on her research proposal to assist the Federal Aviation Administration to implement a performance-based Ground Delay Program (GDP) using multiple criteria. GDPs are implemented to control air traffic volume to airports where the traffic demand is expected to exceed the airport's acceptance rates for a lengthy period of time.

Her advisor is CEE Professor Mark Hansen.
