Two EPA Grants To Mitigate Landfill Methane Emissions Awarded to Dimitrios Zekkos and Tina Chow

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $4.6 million in grant funding to five institutions for research to quantify and mitigate emissions from municipal solid waste landfills.

CEE Professors Dimitrios Zekkos and Tina Chow, respectively, received grants for their research projects to develop and demonstrate an innovative approach to more cost-effectively monitor and quantify emissions and to measure the benefits from a range of mitigation and landfill management methodologies. Check out Zekkos' research abstract on next-generation landfill monitoring here, and Chow's research abstract on controlling emissions from MSW landfills here to learn more.
