Mr. Eugene (Gene) Herson (CE BS '65, MS '66), the founding chair of the CEE Advisory Council in 2006, passed away on June 24.
Gene was instrumental in establishing and shaping CEE's Advisory Council. His leadership, wit, and intelligence contributed to a strong positive force both within the Advisory Council and before that in general activities with the CEE department.
Gene was CEO and President of EMCON Associates, a NASDAQ-listed environmental engineering and construction company. In 2003, he received the UC Berkeley's College of Engineering's Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award for life-time engineering achievements and public service.
