Biography

Yoram Rubin is a Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus and Professor of the Graduate School in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley. Rubin’s research focuses on the characterization of geologic media using remote sensing and geophysical techniques for environmental and agricultural applications. He is a recipient of the prestigious Henry Darcy Medal awarded by the European Geophysical Union in 2015, the Hydrologic Science Award from the American Geophysical Union in 2004, and the Goldschmidt Award from the Annual Award of the Israeli Hydrological Society in 1988, among other notable accomplishments.

B.S., Civil Engineering, Technion Institute of Technology, Israel, 1977

Research Interests
Groundwater hydrology, Inverse modeling, Modeling of flow & contaminant transport, Environmental risk assessment, Hydrogeology, Geostatistics
Research

Rubin’s research focuses on hydrogeological-geophysical methods for contaminated site characterization, modeling of contaminant transport in heterogeneous porous media, contaminant transport for environmental risk assessment, and performance assessment of nuclear repository sites. His recent research interests include hydrogeology, flow and transport processes in geologic media, modeling and analysis of contaminant fate and migration patterns, geostatistics and stochastic methods, geological site characterization, geophysical methods for subsurface characterization, and soil-plant-atmospheric interaction. Here are a few of the research areas Rubin is currently working on below:
