Cal Construction is the largest student-led competition team in the CEE Department and recently competed in the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Competition in Sparks, Nevada, last February! The club was able to bring 13 sub-teams and over 100 members to the competition in its largest year ever. The 13 sub-teams include Project Management, Preconstruction, VDC, Mixed-Use, Design-Build, Sustainability, IPD, Heavy Civil, Concrete, and Commercial.

All teams prepared throughout the spring and previous fall semesters through weekly workshops, dry runs, and project presentations. Workshops taught members essential construction skills such as estimating, scheduling, and site logistics. Dry runs gave members relevant experience with their competition problem and expected conditions. Coaches were also able to give professional feedback to project presentations to best prepare for the competition.

With Professor Iris Tommelein as the Faculty Advisor, Gabriela Espinoza Perez as the President, and Zin Nyi Lin Htet (Silvester) as the Vice President, the team was able to successfully lead the team to success at the ASC competition. The Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) team ended up placing third and one of the alternates placed in the Alternates competition.
